Starlight Express continues to thrill audiences at Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre with a refreshed cast, immersive staging, and iconic Andrew Lloyd Webber songs

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical Starlight Express is once again rolling on at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre, with performances now booking until 19 April 2026. This marks the sixth extension for the hit show, which continues to thrill audiences with its high-speed, roller-skating spectacle.

Originally premiered in 1984, Starlight Express has been seen by over 30 million people worldwide and maintains a cult status among musical theatre fans. The latest reimagined staging, directed by Luke Sheppard (& Juliet), sees a company of 40 performers racing around and above the audience, bringing to life the story of Rusty, a determined steam train aspiring to triumph over his sleek rivals.

A Refreshed Cast and Creative Team

The current cast includes Jeevan Braich and Gavin Adams as Rusty, alongside Jade Marvin as Momma McCoy, Olivia Ringrose as Greaseball, Asher Forth as Electra, Sophie Naglik as Pearl, and Georgia Pemberton as Dinah.

The production features a powerhouse creative team, including:

  • Set Design: Tim Hatley

  • Costume Design: Gabriella Slade

  • Lighting: Howard Hudson

  • Sound: Gareth Owen

  • Video: Andrzej Goulding

  • Choreography: Ashley Nottingham

  • Creative Dramaturg: Arlene Phillips

The musical showcases Andrew Lloyd Webber’s timeless compositions, including AC/DC, Make Up My Heart, Light at the End of the Tunnel, and the iconic title track Starlight Express. A newly published piano/vocal score features 17 numbers, including the newly published songs I Do and I Am Me.

Immersive Theatre Experience

The Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre has been transformed into the “Starlight Auditorium”, designed to fully immerse audiences in the musical’s world of speed, steel, and spectacle. Conveniently located near Wembley Park station, the venue offers excellent accessibility and transport links.

With its mix of nostalgia, high-octane action, and contemporary reinvention, this extension confirms that Starlight Express remains a theatrical sensation across generations.
