NEWS: THE NOTEBOOK MUSICAL WEST END PREMIERE ANNOUNCED FOR 2027 AT NEWLY RENAMED JUDI DENCH THEATRE

The much-loved romantic story of Allie and Noah is heading to London's West End, as The Notebook Musical has announced its UK premiere for March 2027 at the newly renamed Judi Dench Theatre, currently known as the Shaftesbury Theatre.
Based on Nicholas Sparks' bestselling novel and the hugely popular 2004 film starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, the Broadway musical will begin previews on 10 March 2027, ahead of its official opening night on 13 April 2027. The production is currently booking until 11 December 2027.
The announcement comes as The Notebook celebrates the 30th anniversary of the original novel's publication in 1996, making it a particularly special time for the story to arrive on the London stage.
With music and lyrics by singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson, a book by Bekah Brunstetter and direction by Michael Greif and Schele Williams, the musical brings a new interpretation of the enduring love story to life through music, storytelling and choreography.
The Notebook Musical West End Premiere At The Judi Dench Theatre
The arrival of The Notebook Musical in the West End will also mark an important moment in London theatre history, as it becomes the first production to open at the newly renamed Judi Dench Theatre.
The venue, which is currently known as the Shaftesbury Theatre, is being renamed in honour of Dame Judi Dench, one of Britain's most celebrated stage and screen performers.
The musical will begin previews on Wednesday 10 March 2027, with its official opening night taking place on Tuesday 13 April 2027. Performances are currently scheduled until Saturday 11 December 2027.
The production previously enjoyed a Broadway run, opening at New York's Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre in 2024, following its world premiere in Chicago in 2022. Its original Broadway cast recording also earned Ingrid Michaelson a Grammy nomination for Best Musical Theatre Album.
For audiences who have loved the novel or film, the West End production offers the opportunity to experience Allie and Noah's story in a completely different way, with original songs bringing their relationship and emotions to the stage.
What Is The Notebook Musical About?
The Notebook tells the story of Allie and Noah, two young people from very different backgrounds who fall deeply in love during a summer that changes their lives forever.

Their story unfolds across different stages of their lives, exploring first love, heartbreak, the choices we make and the lasting power of memories.
The musical brings Nicholas Sparks' emotional story to the stage, combining romance, humour and heartfelt moments with an original score by Ingrid Michaelson.#
While many people will already be familiar with the 2004 film starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, the stage adaptation offers a fresh way to experience the story, with music helping to express the characters' feelings and the strength of their relationship.
