Hadestown UK Tour 2027
The Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical Hadestown has officially announced its first ever UK & Ireland tour for 2027, including a stop at The Lowry from 9 – 20 March 2027.
Currently playing its third hit year in London’s West End at the Lyric Theatre, the critically acclaimed musical has become one of the most talked-about theatre productions in recent years, winning 8 Tony Awards on Broadway including Best Musical, along with a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album.
The UK & Ireland tour will premiere at Curve Theatre in February 2027 before travelling across the country with further dates still expected to be announced.
Tickets for the Salford run at The Lowry go on general sale from 10am on Friday 5 June via the official Lowry website.
What Is Hadestown About?
Blending indie folk, jazz, blues and American folk music traditions, Hadestown retells the Greek myths of Orpheus and Eurydice alongside the story of Hades and Persephone.
The musical follows Orpheus, a hopeful young songwriter, and Eurydice, a struggling soul searching for warmth and security in a harsh world. When Eurydice is tempted into the industrial underworld of Hadestown by Hades himself, Orpheus embarks on a dangerous journey to bring her home.
Known for its stunning music, emotional storytelling and unique New Orleans-inspired atmosphere, Hadestown has developed a huge fan following both on Broadway and in the West End.
The Creative Team Behind Hadestown
Hadestown features music, lyrics and book by Anaïs Mitchell, who originally developed the project as a concept album before transforming it into a full stage musical alongside director Rachel Chavkin.
The production’s creative team also includes:
Rachel Hauck – Set Design
Michael Krass – Costume Design
Bradley King – Lighting Design
Nevin Steinberg and Jessica Paz – Sound Design
David Neumann – Choreography
Liam Robinson – Music Direction and Vocal Arrangements
Casting for the UK & Ireland tour is still to be announced.
Producer Mara Isaacs said:
“We are thrilled to bring Hadestown to audiences across the UK and Ireland. This is a show that has moved and captivated audiences in London and around the world – and for good reason.”
Meanwhile, creator Anaïs Mitchell added:
“I’m thrilled that Hadestown will be touring across the UK and Ireland! Our West End casts have taught us that these songs sound right at home in every lilt and brogue.”
