The award-winning musical Chicago is preparing to bring all that jazz to theatres across the UK and Ireland in 2027, with Lauren Oakley, Sam Bailey and Adam Garcia announced among the stars of the new tour.

Celebrating 30 razzle-dazzle years on Broadway, the musical begins its extensive tour in February 2027, including a visit to Manchester Opera House from 25–29 May 2027. Presented by David Ian for Crossroads Live in association with Barry and Fran Weissler, the production brings audiences the glamour, scandal and music that have made Chicago a worldwide success.

Chicago 2027 UK Tour Cast Announced

Lauren Oakley will play Roxie Hart, the ambitious nightclub dancer who finds herself at the centre of a sensational murder trial. Determined to turn notoriety into fame, Roxie will stop at nothing to become a star.

Adam Garcia stars as Billy Flynn, Chicago's charismatic criminal lawyer, whose courtroom theatrics and talent for manipulating the press can turn a murder trial into a media spectacle.

What Is Chicago the Musical About?

Set amid the decadence of 1920s Chicago, the musical follows Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her lover after he threatens to leave her. Facing conviction, she enlists slick lawyer Billy Flynn to transform her crime into sensational headlines, while competing with fellow prisoner Velma Kelly for the spotlight.

Packed with sharp humour, iconic choreography and a satirical look at fame, justice and the media, Chicago features songs including 'All That Jazz', 'Cell Block Tango' and 'Razzle Dazzle'.

Chicago Celebrates 30 Years on Broadway

The 2027 tour celebrates the 30th anniversary of Chicago's Broadway revival, which opened in New York in 1996. Based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, the musical has a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb.

The Broadway revival was directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse. The musical has won six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards and a Grammy, and has been seen by an estimated 35 million people worldwide.
